Search and Destroy
by Drew Lichtenstein

Well, hello everyone. Blaze Of Glory came out in August, with a load of new strategies and new cards to be examined. One such deck, as shown below, is one that has been winning major tournaments, even Origins, before Blaze even came out. This deck is the infamous Klingon Armada deck. Here, with the addition of Blaze Of Glory cards, is such a deck:

Seed Deck

Missions:

Distress Mission
Study "Hole in Space"
Reported Activity
Clocked Mission
Krios Suppression
Secret Salvage

Simple Klingon missions, several of which can be done by one or two personnel, allowing faster mission attempts.

Dilemmas:

Choose your best 21 dilemmas. Suggested at least one of the dilemma be a Borg Ship, so you can get those points to win the game, if such a situation occurs.

Other Seeds:

Spacedoor
Q’s Tent
Klingon Outpost
Fair Play
Hide and Seek x2
Computer Crash
Space/Time Portal

The Computer Crash and Hide And Seeks are for those gimmick Q decks cropping up all over the place. Also use smart seeding (see one of several articles here at Where No Has Gone Before on how to do so) will help a lot, with all these tactics saving you enough turns to win (or destroy their outposts ;-))

Assign Mission Specialists (Korris and Batrell)

I had originally considered using Vekma and Kle'eg, who supply MEDICAL and SECURITY to start off with, however, it made more sense to get leaders who can attack earlier on, so if your opponent goes off and starts doing mission on turn three, you don’t need to worry about matching commanders.

Draw Deck

Q’s Planet

Captain's Log

This deck can be played in a variety of fashions, but a fast assembled armada is usually the best one. The chances of one getting a unique ship (or a Tent for the Rotarron) and a Captain’s Log opening hand are extremely high, almost a sure thing. This allows you to attack a ship like a Nebula or Warbird which has just left the outpost, causing damage (slow them down to RANGE 5, making them sitting and ducks) or causing them to flee back to protection at their outpost.

Be careful as of what you decide to download. If you have a matching ship and commander opening hand (or Martok and a Tent) use the Ready Room Door to grab Captain’s Log. It is important that you have the Log by turn four or five, though, so if you have at least two personnel and a ship opening hand, get the Log instead and protect it from nullification. Another Ready Room Door will come up soon, or a Martok, which makes just one of your ships large enough to go hunting the smaller stuff. As for an opponent using a Battle Bridge Side Deck, if they damage one of your ships, you have a good chance of getting away, as they are actually hurting themselves by using this Side Deck: only one Tactic brings a Cloaking Device off-line, so you can just cloak and escape, as they won’t be able to retaliate against what they can not see.

Outposts decimation for this deck will take around seven or eight turns, so possibly consider staffing one of your ships with higher SHIELDS (one your armada could be without at the moment) and doing missions with your wide variety of mission specialists. Even with Scanner Interference out, Computer Skill x2 should not be too hard for this deck to get, with several personnel possessing it, making the Scans not so worthless. Also, note that Kurn is a center piece for these missions. Pair him up with K’chiQ and another personnel with Honor, and you’ll be able to do all the missions in this deck with just a more attributes. Never forget K’chiQ, as she is the most versatile mission solver in the game.

There you go, a fast Klingon mission solver and armada deck. Now go see what is the craze right now. ;-)
