Betazed Regional Deck
by Plexing

This is the Romulan Science/Space Deck I played at the Betazed Regional, placing 2nd. I have modified it since the tournament so I will make a note of any changes.

Draw Deck:

  • Senator Letant
  • Lovok
  • Vakis
  • Parthok
  • Major Rakal
  • Koval
  • Senator Cretak
  • Telak
  • Senator Vreenak
  • Sela
  • Alidar Jarok
  • Tomalak

These people all play for free and are good personnel for passing Dilemmas and Missions. Senator Letant was later moved to the Q's Tent because I was using QIR for him so often I didn't want to waste a card draw on him.

  • Takket
  • Tarus
  • Taris
  • Tallera
  • T'Rul
  • Sirol
  • D'Vin x2
  • Dr. Telek R'Mor
  • 10 and 01
  • Selveth

10 and 01 are no longer in this deck because they were never used. Takket and Tarus download with AMS during the seed phase. All other personnel are for Dilemma and Mission solving.

  • Kivas Fajo - Collector x5
  • The Traveler: Transcendence x2

These are for extra card drawing power. I always had just the right amount and at just the right times.

  • Palor Toff - Alien Trader x3
  • Scan x2
  • Full Planet Scan

Get back Scans, lost ships, discarded STPs, Kivases, or anything else you need. All 3 Scans were removed because I didn't need them.

  • D'deridex Advanced x2
  • D'deridex x2
  • Q's Tent x4
  • Reflection Therapy x3

These were VERY helpful. I think I may add one or two more.

Q's Tent:

  • Palteth - If you go first VS. an Empok Nor deck...
  • Selok - Steal Earth
  • Bynars Weapon Enhancment - Gives this deck the ability to battle
  • Alternate Universe Door
  • The Wake of the Borg
  • It's Only a Game
  • Kevin Uxbridge
  • Temporal Vortex
  • Regenerate
  • Suna
  • Scout Vessel - Was originally because I had an extra slot, it was a good idea!
  • Palor Toff - Alien Trader - Just because
  • One More card

Battle Bridge:

  • Plasma Torpedo x5
  • Evasive Maeuvers x5

Seed:

  • Cloaked Mission
  • Covert Installation
  • Study Cometary Cloud
  • Explore Typhone Expanse
  • Study Lonka Pulsar
  • Quash Conspiracy

All these missions are very easy to beat. I never really intended to attempt my two planets. In fact, I forgot to put an HQ: Secure Homeworld in my deck for the tournament!

  • Q's Tent
  • Space Time Portal
  • Battle Bridge Door

No real surprises here. Occasionally I had wished that I had an AU Door, but not enough times to add it.

  • Continuing Committee
  • Office of the Proconsul
  • Romulan Outpost
  • Spacedoor
  • Reactor Overload
  • Quark's Isolinear Rods
  • Fair Play
  • Access Denied
  • Assign Mission Specialists
  • Docking Pylons x2
  • Ops x2

Reactor Overload was later moved to the Q's Tent to make room for HQ: Secure Homeworld. Access Denied was used to modify the Ferengi Ingenuity/No Loose Ends combo. The sites were never really needed but they should stay anyway.

  • Balancing Act
  • Friendly Fire
  • Altonian Brain Teaser
  • Dead End x2
  • Lack of Preparation
  • Chula: the Lights
  • Berserk Changling
  • Shaka, When the Walls Fell
  • Odo's "Cousin"
  • Maglock
  • Gravimetric Distortion
  • Firestorm
  • In the Pale Moonlight
  • Unscientific Method
  • Scientific Method
  • Ferengi Ingenuity
  • No Loose Ends

I have 3 two-card combos here but the others are made up against each new opponent. I find this keeps opponents guessing and allows you to tailor your combos to each opposing deck.

The deck is very straight forward to play. All you do is throw your people haphazardly at space missions. As soon as you have the requirements for a mission, attempt it. If they all die, no big loss. If something bad like happens to the ship Conundrum or Cytherians, just return it to your hand. Short on personnel? Kivas! This deck almost never gets bad draws so that's not really a factor either.

Good luck and have fun!
