Cardassian Archaeology with Touches of Orb
by Enabran Tain

I've been wanting to try this deck ever since getting Borad.  The versatility of this card intrigued me so I gave it a try at a recent tournament.  Although I didn't fare too well (3 wins, 3 losses), I am sure it's a good deck, and it's the player who needs improvement! :-) This is not a cheese deck, so it may not be terribly competitive in unfriendly competition.  I welcome feedback, so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

PLAYING THE DECK:

SEED PHASE-
During the mission phase, try to get Hunt For DNA Program, Alter Records and Orb Negotiations (in that order if possible), fairly close to one another.  Acquire Illicit Explosives should not be too far away either. During the dilemma phase, seed the Mysterious Orb under Orb Negotiations.  Then seed dilemmas as you see fit, although Sleeper Trap should go under a mission which is not too close to their facilities. It must also be a planet mission. During the facility phase, seed your Neutral Outpost at Acquire Illicit Explosives, then seed all other cards appropriately, downloading Dr. Farek and Narik to the Neutral Outpost.

PLAY PHASE-
DO NOT download Brunt using the Writ under any circumstances.  Nor (no pun intended) should you download the Espionage card with Plans just yet.  What you can do is close Spacedoor and download your Keldon Advanced.  Also report someone for free at Cental Command if you can. Then activate and discard Quark's Isolinear Rods to grab Elim and put him on the outpost.  Staff the Keldon Adv. and move to your homeworld. Cloak if it makes you feel safer.

It is important that you draw a Q's Tent early in the game to get Borad before your opponent Revolving Door's you.  Without Borad, this deck is really up The Badlands.  Once you get a Tent, exchange it for Borad and on your next turn report him to the Headquarters.  With your second Tent, you should grab HQ: Return Orb to Bajor.  Now you can discard Plans of the Obsidian Order to download the Espionage card.  Take Plans back with Palor Toff if you have him and put it back into play to ensure nothing is Uxbridged.  Scan Orb Negotiations once you have a few personnel in your hand (Elim takes care of Scanner Interference) and redshirt appropriately.  Try not to use your Archaeology personnel, since you're going to need them later. Once Orb Negotiations is complete using Borad's Orb icon (He MUST be kept alive!), earn Mysterious Orb. Keep playing Tents to get any or all of Dejar, Retaya and Hidden Fighter into your hand.  Leave all your other Tent cards exactly where they are since they are mainly for downloads.  Once you have nearly all your personnel in play (The Traveler: Transcendence should be played as soon as possible after the Keldon is downloaded), play HQ: Return Orb to Bajor on Borad.  Then load everyone onto the Keldon Advanced and move to Alter Records.  Momentarily drop Borad off with the Orb scoring ten points, drawing some cards, and letting our Bajoran friends know that we care (!?).  Then, head for Hunt For DNA Program.  Scan, redshirt and solve.  That's 100 points.

As a safeguard, I like to change Dr. Farek's Greed to Archaelogy for the AMS points and use Narik in that away team as well.  Don't redshirt them!  It's a nice way to overcome The Higher...The Fewer and helps if you find yourself up against The Big Picture ( I didn't).  It's hard coming up with an extra forty points, but thirty isn't too difficult.

SLEEPER TRAP INSTRUCTIONS:
This is fairly self explanatory.  Download Jasad, Perak, Dakol and the disruptor rifle when your opponent sets the Trap off.  Get toasting, picking off the enemy away team as much as possible.  Once your guys are alone, play Hidden Fighter to grab the Flaxian Scout Vessel and Establish Landing Protocols, then if you have Ready Room Door, download Retaya to it, discarding the Door.  Then simply lead them over to rejoin your main group.  Good redshirts!

BATTLE BRIDGE SIDE DECK:
This is purely an extra layer of protection.  You may want to risk playing without it for that extra seed card.  A Nor perhaps, although that kills the novelty of having a Cardassian deck without a Nor.
