Bashir’s ISOWC Round 4 Deck
by Bashir

This is my version of the Hunt for DNA Program/Boratus deck that I’ve seen a lot lately.  With Trouble with Tribbles, it is now faster than ever before, using Defend Homeworld to download Boratus whenever you need him.

SEED DECK (30+6)
 Missions (6)
  Hunt for DNA Program
  Iconia Investigation
  Secret Salvage
  Investigate Alien Probe
  Plague Planet
  Sarthong Plunder

These missions can be altered.  The only important one is obviously Hunt for DNA Program.  I’d suggest you leave in Plague Planet, Sarthong Plunder and Iconia Investigation, because they’re pretty easy to do with this deck, and will get you 40-45 pts with AMS.  Investigate Alien Probe is a bit difficult to do, because there’s only 2 Anthropology in the deck, but it is important to be able to do a space mission, because of The Big Picture.

 Other seeds (10)
  Defend Homeworld
  Q the Referee
  Open Diplomatic Relations
  Treaty: Federation/Romulan/Klingon
  Space-Time Portal
  Assign Support Personnel
  Assign Mission Specialists
  Spacedoor
  Klingon Outpost
  Romulan Outpost

Seed the Klingon Outpost at DNA, and Romulan Outpost at Secret Salvage.  I used these two because of their extra shields.  Make sure you flip Q the Referee early because it doesn’t do any good unflipped (it’s not a valid response to anything).  Using the Tri Treaty prohibits a Tent, but it is not really necessary for this deck.  When I play this deck, the 2 mission specialists I get with the seeded AMS are Dukath and Ogawa, but it doesn’t really matter which ones you get.  The Spacedoor/AMS/ASP all download to the Klingon Outpost, because DNA is our base of operation.

 Dilemmas (13+7 self seeds)
Barclay’s Protomorphosis Disease (self seed @ DNA)
  Sarjenka (self seed @ DNA)
  Microvirus (self seed @ DNA)
  Hyper-Aging (self seed @ DNA)
Crystalline Entity (self seed @ DNA)
  Chalnoth (self seed @ DNA)
Bendii Syndrome (self seed @ DNA)

There is another way to do these self seeds.  You could seed 5 non-bonus point dilemmas that your personnel could easily pass (ie Balancing Act, Anaphasic Organism, Archer, Finger Puzzle, Portal Guard), and then try to seed Barclay’s and Sarjenka last.  That way you can get the 15 pts, then use Boratus skill, and you are safe from Writ.  I don’t like to slow seed online, though, because people realize that something’s up.

  Edo Probe / Dead End
  Common Thief / Odo’s Cousin
  Friendly Fire / Berserk Changeling
  Unscientific Method / Scientific Method
Shaka, When The Walls Fell / Navigational Hazards
Lack of Preparation / Cytherians / Maglock

These dilemmas probably won’t hold up your opponent for too long, so that’s why it’s important to win fast.  When EP comes out it should open up a few more dilemma slots in this deck.

DRAW DECK (40)
 Ships (3)
  IKC Gr’oth
  Apnex
  IKC K’Vort

If you need a ship, you can Spacedoor for a K’Vort, or play the Apnex/Gr’oth.  Remember that with Space-Time Portal you can only report one AU a turn.  So you can’t use the Gr’oth’s special download on the same turn it’s reported.

Personnel (18)
  Dukath (AMS)
  Alyssa Ogawa (AMS)
  Tallus (AMS)
  R’Mal (AMS)
  Dr. Royse (AMS)
  Palteth (AMS)
  Kered (ASP)
  Captain Koloth
  Suna
  Vash
  Michael Eddington
  Vekor
  Daval
  Data
  Boratus (DHW)
  Martok
  Richard Galen
  Takket

I get Kered with ASP because he gives me some extra Archeology, along with the important SEC and MED.  I use him as Archeology for Boratus special skill, because he’s more expendable than the mission specialists.  You can’t get Boratus and Kered during the same turn, because they’re both AU.  You can get the mission specialists in any order you want, just make sure you don’t get Takket, because he doesn’t help with Hunt for DNA Program. ?

 Events (5)
  Kivas Fajo – Collector x3
Fair Play (recycle with Q the Ref)
  Intermix Ratio (QtR)

Originally I had another Kivas and a Traveler, but I took them out, because this deck is more about the opening draw.

 Interrupts (3)
  Oof! (QtR)
Palor Toff – Alien Trader x2

 Doorways (2)
  Alternate Universe Door
  Temporal Vortex (QtR)

 Objectives (6)
  AMS x6

These are the backbone of this deck.  If you get two, or one and a Palor in the opening hand, then you can get your mission specialists by turn 2.

 Incidents (3)
  It’s Only A Game
  Panel Overload
  Scanner Interference

If someone is scanning, remember to get Panel Overload with Q the Ref, and then get Scanner Interference.

This deck has worked very well for me.  I’ve played it twice online, and twice offline, and won all four game 100-0.  It is quite fast (though not as fast as some decks types I’ve seen), and can win on the second turn.  Watch out for Dead Ends under Hunt for DNA.  Hopefully Boratus will get rid of it, but once and a while you are bound to hit one.  All I can say is try to go after a higher point mission, so you can get the 50 pts needed with one mission.  Have fun!
