This deck works around the much-talked-about idea of preventing your Friendly Fire from counting down by playing End Transmission to immediately end your turn before the countdown occurs. Using a dilemma combo of [wall dilemma (Ferengi Infestation) – Chula or Flash – Friendly Fire] at the opponent’s missions means they almost certainly activate the Friendly Fire and you are free to play End Transmissions from then on. Here’s how you get going… Start off by using Docking Pads to download Establish Landing Protocols to the table, and also use Writ Of Accountability to download Brunt to one of the Guest Quarters. Using Cargo Bay to download Morn and move him to Quark’s Bar will allow you to draw an extra card until you start playing End Transmissions, and you can download a Gold Pressed Latinum and exchange it for a Kukalaka (or substitute that for the piece of equipment of your choice). Use Assign Support Personnel to download a Vedek Sorad to the other Guest Quarters. Defend Homeworld for Kira Nerys to Ops (or Odo to Chamber Of Ministers, or anyone else you like with Security.) Play any cards you can for free to the Chamber Of Ministers, Quark’s Bar or with Dr Soong’s Cybernetics skill, and as soon as available, play Hidden Fighter to get a ship available. Note that there’s another backup Interceptor in the Q’s Tent. Also there’s a Phoenix that can be played at the Headquarters to score 10 points. On later turns, you can play Renewal Scroll to draw cards, and discard some for Dabo. Use Guest Quarters to give yourself a greater selection of cards to choose from with these draws, and if necessary, use the seeded Obelisk Of Masakas to download Masaka Transformations and give yourself a new hand. Playing Dabo will help to score you points. The majority of cards in this deck have a good probe for Dabo; hence Quark isn’t in this deck for Dabo’s second function. You should always have cards in your discard pile either from your own dilemmas or Renewal Scroll. You’re also usually okay discarding stuff that you might need later with a Renewal Scroll, as there are three Regenerates available. There are a few Referee icon cards in the deck; these might need to be changed to suit your local metagame. I stocked a couple of each of the Scan cards, but they’re not really needed. If they choose to nullify them through any means, you can usually get through dilemma requirements with a small amount of personnel anyway. There are a few exceptions, the most notable being the new Mirror Mirror dilemma Denevan Neural Parasites; and this deck has no protection against the Destroy Radioactive Garbage Scow decks, but that’s a risk that I chose to take. Finally, against the Borg I found I could battle against them quite easily with the Soong Type Androids, and as such I didn’t worry too much about the opponent adapting to the Friendly Fire if they decided to move on to a new objective with A Change Of Plans. (Note that they can’t adapt to the Q-Flash.) I also used 6 Ferengi Infestations to make the Borg more likely to waste adapts on that than on the Friendly Fires themselves. Finally, a quick thank you to Ian “D.T.” Vincent for a bit of inspiration when he got a modified win against me when he was playing a similar deck. All his points were through Dabo in the first tournament I played without stocking an Intermix Ratio. Still, I’ve found this deck to be quite adaptable to uncertainty – any questions drop me a line. By the way, a very minor award for the first non-Brit to understand the deck’s title. Happy New Year everybody, Ringo Comments? Post on the New WNOHGB BBS! |
