Vulcan Regional Report

Well I showed up at the tournament with the confidence that I would win. I had a deck that I had been changing and tuning for almost a year. The director (Evan Lorentz) showed up and we began to talk, after all I used to play him when he lived here before he bacame Mot the Barber. Anyway, I asked him how it was going and eventually he told me that he didn't think that Brad DeFruiter wasn't going to be able to make the tourney bacause he lives far away and may not have transportation (YES!, no offense) And right then Brad walked in the door (Doh!) Well if anyone knows me I still acted as if I had an arrogant confidence. Well gametime.

First game, for some reason I can't remember what deck or whom I played, my apoligies if that person reads this, but it was a victory. 2(+100)

Second game, I play against a PNZ deck and it is a very close game. Finally I have my ship destroyed and lose all of my crew, but there is one minuite left. For some reason that I don't understand he plays a Kivas Fajo on me, draws us both out and the game ends. As I recall I win by 30, and now I am at 3(+130).

Third game, Great Brad DeFruiter, well let's just say he stomped the heck out of me by the full hundred and we are done in a matter of minuites. Well I think that I will get something to eat. 3(+30)

Fourth game, man getting killed again! But the thing my opponet hasn't done is attempt missions. So he puts like a million guys on a ship and attemps with everyone. Sheliak, Chandra, Q. Gone, all of them! YES. Now very slowly I play all my guys and win by 100. That was lucky. 5(+130)

At this point you wouldn't believe how many timed games there have been and how may there were still gonna be.

Fifth game I play a guy who says he is very high ranked in Utah. That scares me a little. At first I am getting killed again. I was wormholed somwhere I didn't want to go, and I returned my ship to my hand five times with S-T Portals and Palor Toffs. I finally get a ship on the table. By then my opponent has 65 points, but has everything destroyed by a Borg Ship dilemma. Right then Evan says that there's two minuites left. Oh, no! And just a second before he says time I get 100 points and I win! 7(+165) By the way, this guy was very nice and a formatable opponent.

Well now I have to win to get into the final. And I get to play a Fed AMS deck. He is going way too fast and it comes down to one more turn and he wins. So I do three misssions for 105 points and I win! Yes! And then he says that I don't win because there is an unsolved Q's Planet on the table and that I needed another 35 points to win. Well after being surprised and filled with disbelief I look at table and see my Future Enterprise all out of range. Then I look at Earth where Reggie is sitting waiting to probe with his faithful Danube there. He hops on and solves Q's Planet. Now I win. 9(+195)

So I go to the final (against Brad), and if you ever play me you will find out that I make jokes in two situations: when I am beating you miserably or before a game that I have no chance in. First thing I notice is that Brad is much more serious than the first game we played. He even asks me to count my opening hand!!!!!! Next think I download a Danube and the first thing I do is make a joke about the two people that you can see in the Danube, you can just take blind stabs at that. Everyone laughs and about five seconds later the game is over and Brad is going to Worlds for the 100th time.

Congratulations Brad! And as I sit here looking at my clear blue second place trophy I know that I have somewhat of a payback I owe to Brad. I will be at the Wild Card so watch out. By the way if you want to know what Brad's deck is forget it. I am not going to tell anyone. Because if I don't win the Wild Card Brad is going to win the Worlds with that deck. So I would like to say congrats to Brad in advance for being the World champ.
