Top 10 Reasons to Play Bajoran
by Keevan

A few facts about the Bajorans or: Why the Prophets have guided them.

  1. Many of the best Bajoran missions are in the Bajor Region. They often have small spans, and can be solved by a relatively few number of people. For example: Relocate Settlers: span of 1 (!!), 30 points, Kira alone solves it, and SEVERAL combinations of two people away teams clean it up (try Odo + any treachery).
  2. They dilemma bust better than many other affiliations (maybe better than anyone except the Dominion). Odo, Surmak Ren, Mora Pol...wow.
  3. Other great missions are redundant in skills and are perfect. Example: Investigate Coup: a 30 point, non-assimilatable, fair play protected, mission BUILT for General Krim. Orb Negotiations (the Cardassian homeworld) can be solved individually by five people!!
  4. Armada: although the Bajorans don't have a *tactic*--they still have one of the cheapest armadas in the game. Hidden fighter for your interceptors and load up with Rinnak Pires. This armada can easily keep pace with a Nor/matching commander catastrophe. Don't forget Bajoran Civil War to download a pair of Pires...
  5. Orbs. We'll see the Orb of Time soon, but a Return Orb to Bajor deck is VERY powerful: card engine, points, and access to the powers of the orbs without solving a mission. VERY powerful. The Orb of Wisdom is probably the most useful card for the Bajorans (although Prophecy and Change is close).
  6. Other Bajoran perks: Renewal Scrolls are one of the most powerful card engines in the game. The Bajorans have access to two dilemma driven decks that can be fun: A Hate Crime Deck with Zayra, or a Dalrok deck with the Orb Fragment. Use a treaty (heck, Kai Winn downloads it!) and join forces with the Dominion. Don't forget about the "earring" deck...Li Nalis is another useful character.
  7. Don't forget the other perks of DS9 (even before the shrine)...: Dabo girls for free; if you are burning cards with renewal scrolls, you might as well get points for them! Download the key dilemma buster or mission solver. Manage your deck with guest quarters and promenade shops.
  8. Instant roving outpost: Report all your Bajorans directly to the emissary. Why not go to the gamma quadrant and build a colony, and report people directly there? Don't forget Hidden Fighter can get you ships there too!
  9. Armada's got you down? No problem, planet hop with the interceptor! Nothing beats the easy of bouncing from Bajoran planet, to Bajoran planet, safe from the gun ports of other races.
  10. Borg got you down? It seems THE Borg deck of the day is the dual-icon Bariel of Borg speed deck. How do the Bajorans handle this one? Easy...steal those dual icons missions fast!! Two of the three of them (Deliver Supplies and Runabout search) are easy: just try Kassidy Yates as the backbone for both.

These ideas can easily be mixed and matched. The Bajorans are VERY powerful in today's game environment....
