Have you ever had a sudden insight or made a brilliant move that won you the game? These are the essence of La Forge Maneuvers…

Two months ago at a local tournament I was playing against a very aggresive klingon battle armada deck with my federation.

I as able to get out the enterprise-E and the defiant early and so my opponent decided to wait until he had a few more ships before coming to destroy them and my outpost.  I knew this was his strategy as I had seen him play in earlier rounds.  I decided that I would try to solve my missions quickly but wasn't able to get out key personel.  Finally, he began to move his fleet towards my outpost.  I thought I was done for until I noticed that he had parked his fleet on one of my space missions.  Well, I had self seeded a borg ship there and it was the first dilemma to be encounted. So, with my defiant, I grinningly flew to that mission and unleashed the borg.  Bye, Bye armada.  I took first place in that tournament, he took second.

I had a damaged Romulan ship full of people sitting in the neutral zone, trying to finish missions to win the game (I just needed one more). Then my opponent moved his Borg Cube to my location, intent on killing all my crew and locking me out of the end of the game. I looked desperately at my hand for an answer... anything that'd buy me just one more turn. And I found it! "You're moving to my location? That's cool!" Of course, he didn't want to give me any points, and what harm could an event do right now? So... "No, it's not. Play an event if you'd like". And so I did. In proper Locutus fashion, I told them to "Sleep!" His cube suddenly went into a Regeneration cycle, repairing all damge (there wasn't any, so no big deal) and stopping the cube for the turn. And my crew survived to run away, finish a mission, and win the game!

First time I've ever even considered using that card offensively. But hey! It worked!
