Last Colorado Star Trek Tournament of the Millenium!
by Spock

Haven't gotten around to building a new deck yet, so I'm using my too-slow Rommie HOTE deck again…but I finally found my Mirror Images (which were a big help) and also added Beverly and Picard.

Game 1: vs Tony Fanchi
I should have won this game, I screwed up a couple times.  End of the game: He's winning by 28 points, after I lost a whopping 28 or so to The Higher…the Fewer and Mandarian Bailiff; his deck is heavily point denial!  I'm within range of two missions I can do, no dilemmas remaining under either, worth about 90 points with HOTE bonus.  He attempts a mission, can't pass the dilemmas.  I'm about to win…and time is called.  Graaaaaah!
0 (-28)

Game 2: vs Johnross Ford
When Ted called out the pairings, Johnross said "uh oh" but this was a very close game.  I again pulled off HOTE, but had trouble solving missions.  He had an interesting deck with 3 missions, nebula, and 4 space, with Ajur and Boratus killing dilemmas and lots of ways to get bonus points.  I ended up winning 100-80; once he gets the bugs worked out I want to stay away from that deck ;-)
2 (+20)  Cumulative 2 (-8)

Game 3: vs Bryce Stevenson
He's also playing a Romulan HOTE deck.  Mine works a little better, though ;-)  My HOTE goes off, but I stop his.   He Defends Homeworld for Lore on turn 2, so I'm expecting Crystalline Entity…which does end up wiping out a crew.  I should have won easily (he had some high-point stealable missions) but I screwed up a bit and ended up with a timed win by about 20.
1 (+20)  Cumulative 4 (+12)

Game 4: vs Stephen Rooke
He has a Klingon report for free deck…it has Wormhole Negotiations but he doesn't seem to be going after it, so I'm not sure what he was trying to do.  I steal Wormhole, Stop Kirk Contact, blow up his ship, solve one of my missions, and play the Phoenix for the win.
2 (+100)  Cumulative 6 (+112)

That puts me in 3rd place; I was talking to someone, so I didn't see who got 1st.  Next tournament is Jan 6th; I'm hoping to improve my standing a few places ;-)

// Editor's note: I didn't type up a report for the next tournament, but I placed 4th
