Adelaide -South Australia Tourney Report
by Paul Kalenjuk

What I played:
I played a Borg speed deck that uses a recycled reactor overload as a guaranteed probe
Also have self-seeded Cube and ooby dooby. My card list is at the bottom of the report.

Round 1 vs Double HQ Romulan free reporter deck.
He got off and running with the old ASP, AMS, Defend combo and reporting senators, etc for free.
Got to Alpha by turn 3, tripped self-seeded Borg cube.
Played Retask on turn 4 but it got kevined, so I built up my guys, gave the queen youth and hit the ooby-dooby (drew rest of deck)
Pretty well much a game or solitaire, he got close to 100 so out came the big picture.
After establishing two gateways, I assimilated Cardassia Prime; then played Resistance is Futile for the win.
Won 100-95 (2 +5)

Round 2 vs Locutus' Cube Construction deck
Largish Borg deck that had the Queen's Borg Cube and Locutus' Cube out by turn 7-8, but by then it was too late, I retasked my cube, gave all my Borg youth, drew rest of deck, established gateways, and recycled reactor overload to guarantee probe for assimilate homeworld for the win. I was a little afraid of 2 cubes, both with matching commander!
Won 100-65 (4 +40)

Round 3 vs Graeme's Free Reporting Mirror Fed Deck
Graeme loves to battle, defending homeworld for Lightner, and getting Scottie with his phaser out early, he sends some guys over to my cube with only one assault drone on it, but an awaken later it had 3 and I won the battle.  Unfortunately, the game slowed a bit here because he left the Starship Enterprise at the same location as the personnel battle and I wanted to counter attack against it. He objected saying that I could only counter attack with a personnel battle, and the tournament director agreed, but reading the glossary after the tourney in battle it says I could.

// Editor's note: he was correct.  He can counter-attack against any of his opponent's
// forces at that location

Well anyway I attack the away team on the cube, killed another guy, but all of this is slowing me down. I now don't have enough drones to crew a retasked cube, I ask the director if I can download what I can, but he says no so I get what drone I can and do
some dancing (ooby dooby ooby dooby ooby dooby do wah wah).  Assimilating Cardassia prime, I hit the Ferengi Infestation/Female Scow /Destroy Scow combo, losing heaps of guys.  But he hits my Lineup-Conundrum combo and just fails.  He STPs back to hand and I finish scouting.  I'm at 65 and one short of staffing my cube and all of my drones are pretty well dead so Graeme decides it is personnel battle time, I lose. But
I download eliminate Starship and blow the poor old enterprise away.
I lose the rest of my people; lucky he doesn't have enough firepower to finish off the cube!
He completes one mission, and tries to ram though another and fails just as time is called (good old Borg servo!).
Timed Win 65-35(5 +80)

Round 4 vs Ian's Anti-Time Fed/Romulan hologram deck
I knew when two holograms were reported as mission specialists I was in trouble; without any counters to anti-time except STP I blindly went forward. Hit the Cube - Retask, hit ooby-dooby drew rest of deck, then Anti-time was about to go off, so 18 drones and a queen go back to my hand, leaving 1 empty cube on the space line.
He scans the space missions and I have no counter.  I know I have a Maglock next, so down goes the officered queen and some drones, then they hit Cytherians, and the cube isn't even staffed yet!  He completes 3 space missions (those holograms just refuse to die!); I flip the big picture.

// Editor's note: apparently nobody realized that The Big Picture isn't a hidden agenda ;-p

I change plans and scout one of his space missions, but he completes the last space to go to 140 points.
Loss 0-100(5 -20)

Well I came 4th playing the best Adelaide players in the last two rounds, think it is time to add a few more counters to the deck, like temporal wake!

See the deck!
