STS Battle Zone
by Kaptain Cirk

Welcome to the Ship-to-Ship Battle Zone!  This arena features the finest collection of starships from across the galaxy.  Here they fight each other, one-on-one, to the death.  What you see here is quarterfinal action all the way up until a winner is crowned.  That vessel shall receive the Golden Phaser Array Power Cell.

The Battle Zone sponsors 3 different weight classes, Heavy Weight, Middle Weight, and Light Weight.  Each weight class is determined by the printed number of either weapons or shields on the starships card.  None of these matches features Range, so that stat is ignored.  In the Light Weight division a ship cannot have a number higher than a 4, and in the Middle Weight division a ship cannot have a number higher than a 6.  For the Heavy Weight division a ship must have at least one number 7 or more.

All ships will start out with a Hull Integrity at 200%.  This will insure a longer battle.  Each ship will have a compliment of 8 personnel.  Some battles will include Matching Commanders if a Captains Log is in play.  Some crews will have people that can enhance weapons and/or shields.  And for some battles, ships will be equipped with various equipment to enhance their weapons and/or shields.  Any special rules will be announced prior to the competition.  If a ship can no longer meet it’s staffing requirements due to personnel being killed by Tactic cards, that ship will be forced to surrender.

Each ship will use the same number of Tactic Cards, the only difference being in specific affiliation Tactics.  Each ship's base deck will consist of the same 11 cards, with an additional 4 cards matching the ships affiliation.  Non-Aligned ships do not have their own specific tactic cards so they will use 4 Full Phaser Spread Tactics for their additional cards.  Some cards in the base deck are included because of their high attack values and their high hull damage.  Some are included just to add a little variety.  In some cases a ship will get an additional attack advantage, but that is out of my control.  The base deck consists of these cards:  Target Weapons, Target Shields, Pulse Phaser Cannons, Photon Torpedo, Quantum Torpedo, Crimson Force Field, Full Phaser Spread, Attack Wing, Strafing Run, Picard Maneuver and Maximum Firepower.  Then 4 more affiliation cards will be added bringing the total to 15 tactic cards.

Ships will be randomly seeded before the first quarter final match.  The 1st seed will fight the 8th seed and the 3rd seed will fight the 6th seed.  The respective winners will then battle each other to determine who goes to the final.  In the other bracket the 2nd seed will fight the 7th seed and the 4th seed will fight the 5th seed.  Those are the Rules, good luck and may the best ship win…

// Editor's note: I'm betting on Locutus' Borg Cube…except competition is irrelevant! ;-)
