Tournament Report: Colorado State Championship
by Spock

Well, didn't quite get the Rommie deck I wanted to play to work, so yesterday I threw together a Klingon deck that used Blood Oath to quickly get out the required personnel to solve Seek Life-form for 50, then did a planet mission for the win, with Scow combos to slow the opponent (no DRAGS, just Scow and Mission Debriefing)  24 players showed up and 23 of them finished the tournament.

Game 1: vs Ted Witt
Ok, just shoot me for this… Got my people out, did Make It So / SSM…and killed an Alien Parasites I woulda passed anyway :-p  Passed the 2nd dilemma on the combo and the others, to be stopped (Mission Debriefing, his) by scow.  Then I did the dumbest thing imaginable - I put my people on the OP! :-p  One DRAGS later, I was rebuilding…solved the mission but I couldn't get my MS back out so I only got 30.  Couldn't quite clear out the 2nd mission, though I lost some to HtF…Ted got 2 missions before we timed out.  He had a Ferengi Empok Nor deck that passed Ferengi Infestation and downloaded about 30 equipment on the first turn, then used Ops to scan the mission a card at a time.
Score: 28-80  Total: 0 (-52)

Game 2: vs Jeffery Hall
He had a Cardy/Rommie nor deck that never really got going.  Did my two missions to win 100-0.
Score: 100-0  Total: 2 (+48)

Game 3: vs Atticus Bergman
Accidentally forgot to seed my artifact :-p  Solved Seek Life-form, then stole Pegasus Search and QtR'd for Intermix to nullify his self-seeded BPD points.  We were starting to pick up when he remembered he could discard a QtR for The Big Picture. :-p  I went along with it and he managed to get up to 95 :-p before I solved a planet mission for the win.
Score: 100-95  Total: 4 (+53)

Game 4: vs Mark Ponting
Got off to a slow start this game, with a lousy draw and Mark kevining my Masaka.  Scored my first mission, he scored 2 (some Fed thing, fast start, flute), scored another but I, kick self, I forgot to play Death Yell when I lost half my AT to DNP so I couldn't quite reach 100…had to solve a 3rd mission to win 100-95.  Annoying fact: in this game and the last one, I hit DNP and lost 3 of my Blood Oath people :-p
Score: 100-95  Total: 6 (+58)

Game 5: vs Matt Blackwell
He's got a pretty efficient 2-ship armada deck…I clear out Seek Life-form and wormhole to the end of the spaceline to score 15 for Cytherians.  While I'm down there I clear out all but Dead End under one mission, then solve another to bring me to 50…but Friendly Fire nabs my only officer :-p   He blows up my outposts and I end up with nothing out…have two missions clear but I can't do them.  I'm drawing and drawing, trying to get toffs so I can do a STP drop and rebuild an OP, but I never get what I need and he solves the last mission just as time is called.
Score: 50-100  Total: 6 (+8)

Game 6: vs Mike Romeo
I'm afraid he never really gets going; I hit a BoJ/Cytherians combo, tent for wormhole, wormhole/STP to the end, toff the wormhole, wormhole/STP back, solve mission, solve planet mission…he amandas my arbitor so I'm forced to solve a 3rd mission for the win.
Score: 100-0  Total: 8 (+108)

Caught part of the game between Brad and Ted…was told it timed out zero to negative!

Top 10 Final scores:
1)  Brad Defruiter 11 (+456)
2)  John Bergman 9 (+237)
3)  Isaiah Nordlagen 8 (+256)
4) William Springer  8 (+1-8)

Oddly enough, at this point none of us (the top 4) have played each other.

5)  Matt Blackwell 8 (+50)
6)  Ted Witt  7 (+362)
7)  Mark Ponting 7 (+185)
8)  Kyle Craft  7 (+82)
9)  Matt Garrett 6 (+197)
10) Jon Carter  6 (+25)

Final: Brad vs John
I only caught pieces of this, but I understand John blew up all of Brad's stuff, then solved a mission for the win.
