The Ninja and the Doctor Review: Els Renora by The Ninja Scott and Dr. Telek R'Mor As you may have heard, The Ninja Scot and Dr. Telek R'Mor have decided to do a one-page review of every card in Holodeck Adventures. That's right, all 131 cards! Better set aside lots of reading time for this… (DTRM is doing evens and TNS is doing odds) The opinions, of course, are those of the authors :-)
![]() Ya know what’s worse than a support personnel? A personnel with three skills. And what’s worse than just any old personnel with three skills? One who can’t report for free in any form at all and possess no useful skills or qualities. Els Renora takes the cake for being one of the worst cards in Holodeck Adventures simply because she contains almost nothing useful on her. Normally I don’t like to just skim through personnel based on their skills, but I couldn’t possibly get a full page on her without doing that. So, here we go: VIP: Useful for almost nothing, and the Bajorans have plenty of it. Law x2: Worthless. Law x1 is nice, thanks to Cyrus Redblock making Implication such a pain, but not only do the Bajorans have plenty of sources of Diplomacy/Law (the Chamber of Minister’s free reports is more or less tailored for it), but Law x2 has absolutely no redeeming value for anything. No mission or dilemma requires it. Now, if it was Diplomacy x2, that’d be different… MEDICAL: A useful classification, of course, but the Bajorans already have a universal source of it who is a support personnel and a free report to the Chamber. In addition, Vedek Sorad has Diplomacy, more useful than Els Renora’s Law x2. If that’s not enough, try Lupaza (free report with Bajoran Resistance Cell) or Teero Anaydis (free report to the Chamber of Ministers, if Vedek Sorad isn’t enough). Or, be content with the fact that MEDICAL isn’t as useful as it has been in the past, with MEDICAL dilemmas on the downfall since the Vidiians and their Harvesters entered the tournament scene six months ago. Anthropology: Needed in space (Aggressive Behavior), but rarely in multiples. Again, the Bajorans have much better sources of it, mainly on the likes Bariel Antos (free report to the Chamber of Ministers, again, and replaces Els Renora’s useless Law x2 with the much better Diplomacy x2) or his Mirror Universe counterpart, Bariel (who is used in most Bajoran decks as is because of his amazing download of the Multidimensional Transporter Device). Other features: Her attributes are fine, though the STRENGTH of two means she’ll die to The Weak Will Perish, though, more noticeably is her CUNNING of eight: most Bajorans seem to have CUNNING of seven which means she’ll be an odd person out if you hit Chula: Chandra (just an odd thing to notice -- something of interest, though not do or die for a Bajoran personnel by any means). Being female isn’t a big deal for them either because the Bajorans already have several useful personnel who are female (Leeta, Vedek Dax, Minister Rhozan, etc…). In conclusion, this ranks up there with the dredge of not only Holodeck Adventures, but of this card game as a whole. Almost no redeeming qualities at all make her a bottom of the barrel card if I’ve ever seen one. Pity. Combo(s):
