The Ninja and the Doctor Review: Mine Gallicite by The Ninja Scott and Dr. Telek R'Mor As you may have heard, The Ninja Scot and Dr. Telek R'Mor have decided to do a one-page review of every card in Holodeck Adventures. That's right, all 131 cards! Better set aside lots of reading time for this… (DTRM is doing evens and TNS is doing odds) The opinions, of course, are those of the authors :-)
![]() If I didn’t know better, I’d say Decipher had some sort of odd bias. I even have to end up doing the “bad” missions compared to Michael, who at least gets to do the ones of some interest (like Establish Home Planet and Study Protonebula). Mine Gallicite, like most other missions in the Delta Quadrant, can be solved by a single individual, namely Neelix. He’s already got one other mission under his belt (Tak Tak Negotiations) and his free report status on Voyager or Equinox (or, if you want to risk it, Restore Victims) makes him an easy personnel to get out. For other affiliations, the skills aren’t overly hard to get out. The ENGINEER and Diplomacy should be common in most decks and the Geology isn’t the hardest skill to come by. For a last resort, you can use the Treachery and STRENGTH option, however Lack of Preparation will then force you to bring in a medium sized crew to complete it. The major weakness of Mine Gallicite is the fact that it’s only worth thirty points. The Delta Quadrant has so many better missions to choose from which are worth more points and can require fewer personnel. Running thirty point missions is dangerous because of point denial decks that still remain loose and occasional: a few The Higher… The Fewers or bad decisions in regard to an Edo Probe could force you to have to do a fourth mission. The other major weakness is the fact that it’s a planet mission. As of late, I’ve found planets to be much weaker than space simply because the dilemmas there can be much more devastating. A major wall followed by Denevan Neural Parasites could mean a major roadblock for any player in their attempt to complete the mission that they’re going for. On some missions I can see where the risk is worth taking, but on one where it is only thirty points (and, in addition, not too many useful mission specialists, outside of Riva, who can really boost it up) it’s not really worth it. In conclusion, it seems that almost all Delta Quadrant missions fall
under the same category: extremely useful or extremely useless. Missions
such as Reinitialize Warp Reaction or Assist Cooperative are some of the
best in their game because of their
