The Ninja and the Doctor Review: Repair Memorial by The Ninja Scott and Dr. Telek R'Mor As you may have heard, The Ninja Scot and Dr. Telek R'Mor have decided to do a one-page review of every card in Holodeck Adventures. That's right, all 131 cards! Better set aside lots of reading time for this… (DTRM is doing evens and TNS is doing odds) The opinions, of course, are those of the authors :-) 43) Repair Memorial – Planet Mission –Engineer x2 + Computer Skill + Honor x2 Span – 3. 40 Points – Personnel here are each attributes all –2. Any Away Team may attempt mission. This is the first time that a mission, rather than an opponent’s cards, saps attributes away from the attempter’s personnel. Is it worth the loss of attributes to even stock the mission in the first place? First, anyone can solve it for there are no affiliation icons and second, it’s not Fair Play-protectable which hurts it more because it’s really easy to steal on turn 1 by most affiliations as Dr. Telak R’Mor supplies the Engineer and Honor, Quark's Isolinear Rods could download someone with Computer Skill x2, etc. That being said, it’s a great mission for Delta Quadrant Engineering decks and their Queen – B’Elanna Torres. Even her Klingon version would be great for this mission as she supplies all except for one of the Honor. Once you factor in the DQ’s inherent man-made state for AMS points (Leah Brahms in particular is quite welcomed in the DQ for missions), it gets to look more and more likely to net yourself the bulls eye (a.k.a. 50 points) But just because it’s easy looking doesn’t mean that it is. All attributes are –2, which can pose a great deal of problems against most attribute-specific dilemmas. Try passing a Hologram Ruse-boosted by Barash for example, with its new requirements of Cunning >60 and Integrity >60 for example or have Cunning > 38 from up to 5 different personnel like Clan People, two personnel with Cunning > 14 with Spatial Rift, one personnel with attributes >23 with The Clown: Beneath the Mask, or even the potentially damaging concept of having Integrity > 32 with Alien Parasites after making your way through various filters so that they can solve for you, for just many of the different examples. It’s not just walls that could be damaging however, for straight killers could still snatch you up. If you don’t have equipment, Common Thief gets a whole new set of personnel to choose from, Thought Fire could actually hurt a whole lot more personnel if you have Traveler: Transcendence affecting you and lack Empathy, Flash Plasma Storm and Firestorm have quite a few more lovely victims (although the previous three can be countered with Thermal Deflectors), Trabe Grenade will almost assuredly hit someone as will as Altonian Brain Teaser, and so on. If there’s any mission that would suggest people use attribute-enhancing cards, this would be it (not to mention Thermal Deflectors) because without them, this mission could take a whole lot longer than worth the effort. Overall verdict from me is this – Prevent Annihilation is just so much easier in comparison, why not go after that instead? You have less to worry about and at least that’s somewhat protectable with HQ: Defensive Measures. Combos – Chandra + The Gatherers + Founder Secret – Filter away enough personnel, then snatch away all of their equipment, then force them to come up with Strength >70 Combos – Prevent Annihilation + Inv. Quantum Singularity + Establish
Home Planet + Repair Memorial + Inversion Mystery + Assist Cooperative
– The B’Elanna Mission Set
