Arwen: Fair Elf Maiden [LotR]
by Patricia Gillard, Chris Jurasek and Kristin Wingo

Arwen: Fair Elf Maiden at Decipher.com

The new Arwen. Well, they finally got a decent picture of her. Why is it so hard to find good picture of the really pretty ones? Like Legolas, for instance.

Her strength bonus is active against more minions than Arwen: Daughter of Elrond because it is not limited to just skirmishing Nazgul. The Fair Elf Maiden's strength bonus keys off of minions that include the keyword "fierce" in their game text, such as the Balrog, the Cave Troll of Moria, and Lurtz, and since most Nazgul are "fierce", the bonus works off them as well.

As she is Gandalf Signet not Aragorn Signet, and she's not a Ranger, she loses access to many Ranger-support cards, but she gains access to a few Gandalf-support cards. In general the Ranger cards are more versatile, but there are a few really good uses for the Gandalf Signet, such as Trust Me As You Once Did.

One noticeable "feature" of the new card is her lore: "But she also sends word to you... 'Fair well, Elfstone!'" It's a message to Aragorn, and the use of "fair" instead of the appropriate "fare"--and the fact that got through Tolkien Enterprise and New Line approvals--suggests a play on words for the "Fair Elf Maiden".
