Partnering
by Patricia Gillard Last month I was approached by Thorsten "Jaglom Shrek" Wenek, Decipher's Star Trek Ambassador for Germany,
who proposed a partnership between his website and Where No One Has Gone Before. Thorsten's site is a German
language magazine called STCCG-Turnier (which means STCCG-Tournament).
You'll find lots of links to his site in this issue, and a cool banner (that I don't quite know where to put yet):
When I first heard his idea I had some reservations. When I took over the responsibility for Where No One Has Gone Before from William Springer I had intended to keep to what I'm good at - making webpages. I was involved in reformatting and restoring historical issues of WNOHGB, which is a large task in itself and about 60% complete, as well as updating the magazine once a month with the articles that trickled in, and it seemed like Thorsten was very generously offering me more work. The proposal is that we increase readership and authorship for both our sites by presenting tournament reports from German players on WNOHGB, translating English articles into German for STCCG-Turnier, and German into English, and generally sharing information back and forth. Thorsten will do translations himself and send them to me, and I will edit the English ones for grammar and spelling (much as I do with Earl's articles). ;-) So I am happy with this arrangement, as long as my involvement is limited to making webpages. It's what I do best. We'll take it one article at a time beginning in the new year and see how it goes. WNOHGB's budding young authors could find your literary works translated into German, so check out STCCG-Turnier next year and watch for it. And by all means let me know in your submission ("submissions at churchofbrad dot com") if you have objection for any reason to being translated, and I'll let Thorsten know. I want to take a moment and wish all our readers a very merry holiday season and a happy new year from myself, and on behalf of Thorsten Wanek, Olav Rokne, Kim and Allen Gould, and everyone at the Church of Brad (can't you just hear them shouting it in the background?) heh. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, and Solstice Salutations! Patty
