Kira
by Chris Baines

She's the most powerful Bajoran out there, so as you can imagine I (and many other Cardassian and Fed players) were just slightly over the moon about getting a version of her to use for ourselves. I speak of course of....

This review will mainly be from a Cardassian perspective, so Fed players please accept my apologies; you'll just have to read between the lines.
Kira Nerys is a card which has just been begging for use in a Cardassian deck. Unfortunately, up until now there has been no plausible way to do so. Enter Legate Damar's friend "Kira" and everything changes.
Firstly, looking at Kira's skills, I know from my own experience that with the exception of Resistance (you were expecting that though, right?) all of these are very common for use in Cardassian decks. SECURITY and Leadership will suit Obsidian Order decks down to the ground, and Honor X2 will help to balance out such decks (which include treacherous persons like Elim). Navigation will be a great help in Badlands decks, which sadly are seeing far less use these days. Kira, Danar and Dukat (??? Go figure!) can tear through the Badlands taking missions of various kinds (with a little help from people like Ulani Belor and Gilora Rejal) as they go.
The combination of SECURITY and Leadership is great for putting the lid on Friendly Fire, and there are plenty of other Cardies who have such a combo making this a very easy dilemma to beat. Kira will also be an asset against Berserk Changeling and other SECURITY requiring dilemmas. In fairness to Federation players, do I really need to point out how good Kira will be with Luther Sloan or George Primmin? :-) Only one small complaint, is that the skill of Resistance will only get in the way and be Add Distinctiveness fodder.... oh yeah, No Loose Ends just got a whole lot easier!
The anti Dominion defense will be very welcome against a smack down (provided it's not too big), and just Uxbridge their Invasive Beam-In to restrict the battle to ship to ship. Of course with those Dominion Battleships flying around you'll want to be careful, but with Captain's Log, the Stolen Attack Ship commanded by Kira will help.
In all, I think it's time for Cardies everywhere to swallow their pride and invite this Bajoran into their decks with open arms.
