Temporal Investigations vs. The Traveler: Transcendence
by Rom These 2 cards are obviously similar. Both are "play on table" events that give you card draws. Which is better? ![]() Investigations lets you draw on your opponent's turn. So if you use a "draw no cards this turn" effect, like Q's Tent or Ops, you could still get your Investigations draw, while a Traveler would be wasted. Investigations has the additional advantage of downloading 2 personnel, and very useful ones too. But only Federation decks can really benefit from that. Lucsley gives Investigates a slight edge over the Traveler, there's no way to download Travelers. Traveler, however, has one big advantage. It gives you a draw every turn regardless of what the opponent does. Investigations relies on the opponent playing AU cards to the Alpha quadrant. Of course, there're so many AU cards now, there's a good chance you'll draw something. You could also combo Investigations with Live Long and Prosper to encourage the opponent to play their AU personnel multiple times. Chula the Lights or New Essentialists might play into that, too, especially with an Alien Parasites. So, is it really worth using Temporal Investigations instead of Traveler?
I think it's just like comparing Renewal Scrolls or 6th Rule of Acquisition
with Kivas Fajo Collector. There are different strengths to each,
depending on how they're used.
