Abandon Ship!
Dilemma, Space, Premium OTSD
"Krinim attacks repeatedly damaged the U.S.S. Voyager. Failing life support led Captain Kathryn Janeway to order the evacuation of all personnel except senior staff."
If ship damaged or RANGE reduced, personnel not needed for staffing are placed with dilemma atop mission. Rescue (opponent may capture) personnel with different ship here.

This card can be used to generate an incredible number of captives for you to interrogate, brainwash or whatever fiendish things you had in mind. The problem of course is getting it to hit, your opponent probably isn't going to continue attempting a mission after your dilemma damaged him so the key is using non-stopping dilemmas.

AFAIK there are no dilemmas that damage a ship and don't stop him but we can still reduce the range, here is where Isolinear Puzzle and "Pup" come in. Both lack conditions so they immediately hit, if the cure isn't present Abandon Ship! hits and you've got captives galore. To make it even tougher put Ferengi Ingenuity in front and play access denied on the mission, barring reflection therapy no one's going to have Computer Skill x3 so the most CUNNING Computer Skill x2 is stopped. That means you're going to need Computer Skill x7 to not get hit by "Pup", I'm not sure I have that in my whole deck!

Of course you've got to get there before your opponent does so throw in a Scout Encounter right after Abandon Ship! if you've got Holographic Projectors out you could download a Chief O'Brien (hologram) to Brainwash those captives one at a time.

The more nefarious use, which was mentioned by Wes in his COTD, is to play a Baryon Buildup on their ships. This can really sting when played on a Borg Cube, they're not going to want to take the time to get back to the Outpost and probably wouldn't use a Regenerate on it. But can't you just imagine the look on their face when you capture...oh a queen, counterpart and 7 of 9 as well? Priceless. To make this even worse stock a this, Q-Nets, Static Warp Bubbles and some other rather nasty events with a goodly amount of Parallax Arguers. Is never getting beyond your first mission cool or not? ;-P

Combos:

  • Access Denied + Ferengi Ingenuity + "Pup" + Abandon Ship! + Scout Encounter: Gimme me the captives!

  • Baryon Buildup + Abandon Ship + Scout Encounter + Auto Destruct Sequence your scout + Alas, Poor Queen. Wes' old idea, the most nefarious in the game.

    Brainwash
    Event, Rare QC
"Geordi La Forge was mentally reprogrammed to do the Romulans' bidding by a machine that accessed his mind through his VISOR's direct neural implants."
Plays on one personnel you've captured. Captive reports to your outpost, is under your control and may mix with your personnel regardless of affiliation.

This card actually won me an online game about a month back and should definitely be put, at least in the Tent, in all capture decks. In this particular game I captured my Dominion opponent's Kilana using Kidnappers and proceeded to Brainwash her. Next turn I used her and all the rest of my personnel to solve Hunt For DNA Program and get 10 bonus points from a Barclay's Protomorphosis Disease for a 100-35 win, my opponent would've won next turn. While maybe not as attractive as Interrogation or Torture as you can see it does have its uses. After all think about how I would've felt if had lost that game because I failed to include a Brainwash in my deck.

Last CCOTD I suggested using Scout Encounter to download Chief O'Brien (assuming you have Holo Projectors in play) to your scout and immediately Brainwashing any Captives you have taken. This works great in conjunction with Extradition since you get to choose who you take captive and you're going to want to combo it with SE anyways. Make sure to download someone like Galathon with the Chief so you have the necessary Treachery and STRENGTH to use Extradition.

With BoG we also got the new HA E-Band Emissions which, while admittedly not all that powerful, increases the reasons to use Brainwash. And this brings me to my next point, the Taibak theme deck! Taibak of course will be the core with Kell and Tharket thrown in for taste. Add a good number of Chief O'Briens, the Goraxus for him to operate on and Sela to command it. Now we'll build our Battle Bridge around Target Shields and put some Romulan Ambushes in the deck to get a prisoner after their shields are down low enough. Make sure to seed E-Band Emissions and to complete the circle infiltrate your new crewmembers and have them Dial Martok For Murder. While admittedly not the best deck in the world it'd be awfully fun to pull off...

    Combos:

  • Extradition + Scout Encounter + Chief O'Brien + downloaded Brainwash: Choose just the card you need to and brainwash him this turn!

  • And of course the deck mentioned above

    Captured
    Incident, Rare BoG
Seeds or plays on table. During your turn, your non-Borg crew or Away Team may capture one opposing personnel present (random selection) if you have more SECURITY present than opponent, or more hand weapons present than opponent. OR During any player's turn, you may captrue one personnel just stunned in battle by your non-Borg SECURITY. Discard incident after either use.

One of the more useful capture cards we got from BoG, this factors well into a VCM deck. You're going to want to throw in a bunch of equipment to get those downloads anyways, why not make it a bunch of Type I Phasers. When your opponent attacks your poor pathetic Reginald Barclay (FC) and Inge Eiger just report oh...7 Type I Phasers. Reg is now a one man wrecking crew with STRENGTH 14 and Inge shouldn't be to easy to kill at STRENGTH 12. Next flip or play a copy of captured, if you didn't kill one of them with Reg now you can capture one of their personnel. (Editor's Note: Keep in mind, though, that Type I Phasers do not trigger a download from VCM because of the Federation icon in the game text...)

Probably the best way to use this is once again in combination with one of my favorites, Scout Encounter/Extradition. When your opponent encounters this, download a STA and name her SECURITY, although I recommend Taul or Dakal, depending on the affiliation and strategy you can download any card that has a reasonable STRENGTH and Treachery. Now when you take your captive with extradition pay attention to their STRENGTHS, if most appear below your 8-9 and 10, and they should unless they're using weapons or playing Jemmies, attack with both your people. You should stun at least one personnel which you can then play Captured on, unfortunately unless theirs is a small crew they'll probably kill one of your guys, leaving one to beam back to the scout with two captives and run away. This could be done similarly using Sleeper Trap. (Editor's Note: Unfortunately, Sleeper Trap doesn't work in Space unless a Nor is present.)

The second function might make it worthy of using in a Dominion Personnel Battle deck. Not only should you be mortally wounding all his personnel you can also get some secondary points through a captive.

If you want to rate please e-mail me, if this gets popular I won't restrict myself to only capturing cards.
