Top 10 Rejected Deck Ideas for World Qualifiers
by Mike Mannino

The Worlds qualifying season is fast approaching once again and we here in the Qo'noS Region have begun to brainstorm deck ideas to take us to Worlds. To help players in other regions get a better idea of the metagame they're likely to face, I've decided to throw out this list of deck ideas we've considered but discarded. So here goes:

10- The Barbers of Bajor: This deck utilized Terraforming Stations to change all the Bajor Region missions requirements to Barbering so they could be beaten by Mot the Barber.

9- Borg Sphere Armada: Continuing the recent trend of armadas this deck played sphere after sphere after sphere followed by Gowron of Borg to blow you away. Eventually replaced by the Scout Vessel Armada since that one only took 20 turns to get started as opposed to the 40 here.

8- Dabo!!!: Play Leeta. Download Dabo. Kill Leeta. Dabo her away. Next turn, play another Leeta and repeat. Could hypothetically be used with any personnel but somehow we just couldn't bring ourselves to take any of the 30 Leetas out of the deck.

7- Look Ma, No Treaties: This deck used all 7 affiliations without any treaties, sending out people one at a time on Non-Aligned ships to redshirt

6- See, They Do Have a Use: This deck focused on getting out all those 2 Skill personnel generally regarded as 'useless'. It used the triple treaty to get as many of these poor 'binder fodder' cards out as possible.

5- Suna's Ark: A deck using Mot's Advices and Reflection Therapy to give skills to Spot and an army of Targ's.

4- Cardassian AMS: 'Nuff said.

3- Look at me! I did all 6 missions: This deck focused on the very unusual objective of completing all 6 of its missions. It dropped The Big Picture then completed 6 universal Planet missions, using a combination of Parallax Arguers and Drought Trees to score the last few points to win.

2- What's This 'Writ' I Keep Hearing About?: This very efficient deck used multiple Anti-Time Anomalies, Brain Drains, and Subspace Schisms combined with Horga'hn and Q-Bypass.

1- Run Away! Run Away!: Now that battle decks are so prevalent, this deck used 6 Nebulas to evade your opponent for an hour counting on them chasing you the whole round and true tying you 0-0.

Well, there you have it. Hope that gives you an idea of the metagame here and helps you hone your own deck designs. Remember, if that's what we took out, imagine what we left in. Qapla!
