I Feel Old
by Olav "Pendari Champion" Rokne

Someone recently commented to me that most of the best players seem to loose their edge after a few years-- that after understanding the key concepts of the game for a while, they get stuck in a rut and are unable to cope with a changing metagame. That new players or younger ones are willing to look at old cards in new ways, while the older ones (such as myself) aren't willing to really reexamine "the issue is patriotism".

My friend continued that the golden age of Card Gaming is 21, and that you are over the hill at 25.

Am I over the hill in STCCG at 25?

Now my questions to you my humble compatriots is: to those of you who are younger (Atticus, you spring to mind here) or newer to the game, do you see this
trend?

To those of you who are old like myself, do you ever feel that you are over the hill, that your best STCCG days are behind you? I certainly do-- I seem to be stuck in a devidian doby related rut, and keep building variations on that deck, regardless of what
new bullets are available.

And finally to long time players who don't feel they have suffered burnout, who despite having been in the game for a long time seems to have managed neoteny,
how have you managed it? How are you keeping your ideas fresh?
